RISA T – Galaxy

Next up on CoOp Presents, Risa T! We are very proud to bring you a debut full-length EP entitled ‘Galaxy’ courtesy of this brilliant upcoming talent; a lady that has been a solid member of the Selectors Assemble crew for a little while, previously turning out a big remix of the NameBrandSound track ‘Home Demo’ and a killer collab with Alex Phountzi entitled ‘Rotations’ which featured on our ‘Plug One Extras’ EP.

Tokyo-born, London-based producer Risa T nurtured her music roots through years of classical music training from a young age. She explores the styles and textures of contemporary sounds, whilst incorporating a perspective strongly influenced by bruk, as shown in her previous releases on CoOp Presents and Dance Regular, as well as remixes for Da Lata and the afore-mentioned NameBrandSound piece. Through her aesthetic, Risa beguiles with the suggestion of new harmonic possibilities whilst keeping everything hemmed into taut modernity.

So to the ‘Galaxy’ EP, and as expected it’s an intergalactic jaunt through the sonic spaces of bruk and beats. The set includes another collaboration with CoOp label boss Alex Phountzi (on ‘Let Go’), whilst Phountzi’s label partner IG Culture provides a heavyweight brukstep remix of lead track ‘Galaxy’. Four of the five tracks sit firmly in the bruk hemisphere; intricate skippy drums are laced with vocal stabs, synths and delicate pianos. ‘Lucky’ is somewhat of a curveball to the rest of the selection, on a future beats footwork-esque vein, akin to artists like Tennyson, Mura Masa or Sam Gellaitry.

This EP is just a sample of Risa T’s formidable production pallet, and you can expect to see a lot more of her in the world of electronic music in the near future. For now though, get on this one and watch we work.
