EVM128

EVM128 is a producer and DJ. Originally from Bristol but rooted in London. He has DJ’d alongside the Likes of Gilles Peterson, Ross Allen, Don Letts, Norman Jay, Greg Wilson, IG Culture, Afronaut, Henry Wu, K 15, Neneh Cherry, DJ Vadim, Roots Manuva, LV, Artwork (Magneticman), Afrika Hi-tek, Silkie and Flako to name a few! His Dj’ing is eclectic ,with influences ranging from 80’s Boogie, Soul, Electro, Broken Beat, Afro, House and Disco to HipHop, Ragga, Jungle, Garage and Bass genres.

His first EP “Groove Content” released on Ross Allen’s Meltdown Music Recordings is a mash up of styles, part Dilla, Part Joy Orbison, but is it’s own thing entirely. Gilles Peterson hailed it as a ‘classic’ and ‘right up his street’… Groove Content is in Gilles’ All winners top 50 of 2011.

In 2014 after releasing two EP’s he has steadily gained support from Annie Mac on Radio 1 and various Rinse FM shows, as well as DJ support from Scott Garcia, DJ Cartier, LTJ Bukem, Brackles, Jesse Rose, Richy Ahmed, Dom (SubClub), Tom Dinsdale (Audio Bullys), Gorgon City, Joyce Muniz, Bill Brewster (DJ History), Jozif, Kyodai, Shadow Child, Rob Smith (Smith & Mighty/ RSD) My Nu Leng, Tensnake, Monki (Rinse), Maribou State, Thristian (Boiler Room) Auntie Flo + more.. Having already played the Boiler Room and released a single on Somethinksounds (with EL-b on remix duties) 2015 was looking good for EVM.

After a remix for Bunny On Acid featuring Amp Fiddler which had its first radio play by Lefto, he then released his first single of the year on `Studio Rockers called ‘Beyond’ featuring UK Soul legend Omar, which got played on various radio shows, podcasts and dancefloors worldwide! He then had UK Garage track of the week on Rinse FM with his remix of Scott Garcia’s G.A.R.A.G.E ft MC Neat.

On 19th Sept 2015 he released his debut album ‘NOVA’ on Studio Rockers, featuring collaborations with Omar, Shy One, (DVA Music) Daiva, (Keymono) Bahia, (Tru Thoughts) and Romaine Smith. EVM has been noted in a Guardian review as being one of the producers at the vanguard of London’s Brokenbeat resurgence. In 2016 he clocked up releases on BBE, Local talk and WotNot Music.

Most recently, through performing at Dimensions Festival in 2016 and a seminal CoOp presents show at London’s legendary Boiler room in 2017, EVM was brought in by IG Culture and Alex Phountzi (aka NameBrandSound) as a new member of the CoOp Presents, Selectors Assemble family along with a whole slew of new Bruk Soldiers that form Selectors Assemble. These include Danvers, James Rudie, Entek, Wonky Logic, Neue Grafik, Cengiz, Oliver Night, Gonzi and Ry Da Vibe. With a ton of events and shows happening, Selectors Asssemble have been busy in the studio and setting foundations for for an ever growing collective.

EVM, now heavily involved in the CoOp presents label and Selectors Assemble crew, with two EP’s, more remixes and a second album to drop, its full steam ahead for 2019…
